There's something sweet, yet disturbing, about this image.....it's the first of a set along a similar theme which I'll be selling (some originals/some prints) at the Luminaire in London on 3rd of August.

The event is the Stars of Sunday League EP launch. I was fortunate enough to be able to contribute my art to the EP and it should be a great night.

I've been working on this design for the St. Andrews Trust. They do a lot of charity work in Malawi and they've asked me to come up with a tee shirt design which they could sell to help raise some money to fund their good deeds. There'll be more on this as is progresses.

I designed and printed this poster for the upcoming Joan of Arc show in Sunderland. I'm really excited that they're going to be playing in Sunderland.....far too few bands play there.

I made a zine for an exhibition for the Owl and Lion gallery which opened last night. The exhibition consists of 50+ zines by different artists from all over the world. Here are some photographs of my zine, i'll put some shots from the opening up later.

I like it though...this style is helping me experiment with subtle colour and I'm hoping gives a new dimension to the 'types' of work I can do.

So, Far (aaaargh!!!) are back together and touring the UK this week and it's safe to say I am pretty excited.

Jonah sent me over this image of a pony and asked me to screen some bags for the tour. It was all pretty last minute (mostly due to my being overseas last week) and I just got done printing!

They're looking pretty sweet, if you're at any of the shows from Glasgow onwards be sure to pick one up. They're a pretty limited set so be quick!

I had planned to meet up with my mate Anthony in Riga last weekend as it was his Birthday. He's been away for a few months travelling around Russia (http://www.anthony-morrow.blogspot.com/) and is now heading back to the UK through Europe. I somehow managed to make an absolute mess of booking my flights and what was supposed to be a 3 day trip to Riga ended up being week long saga.

After a few days in Riga we went to Estonia and made a fairly wreckless attempt at camping out in Lahemaa National Park. Tallinn is absolutley beautiful, especially in the snow.

The pitch was sodden and heavy, legs tiring in the mud. The wind made the ball do all kinds of crazy things, carrying it just out of reach. It was cold, wet, tiring, frought, filthy and I loved every second.

One of my favourite childhood memories is of playing football in horrendous conditions, another is of the bewildered looks from my mother when I'd come home shivering and muddied from head to toe....not from me dad though, he understood.

Football, in autumn. There are few things finer.

my first pumpkin...

So when I was a kid and we'd go out dressed like all kinds of evil to scare sweets out of the hands of our neighbours I'd take a carved turnip.

I always assumed that pumpkins were for American kids and in the UK the turnip was the domestic lantern veg of choice. This week I fond out kids in the UK have been using Pumpkins for years and it turns out I was just poor! (somethings never change)

I might not be able to do much about the fact I'm poor but I'm an adult now and so help me I can have a pumpkin if I want one.

This is my very first pumpkin, I carved him last night and now we've formed an affectionate bond.

You might remember that I came up with a design for Jonah Matranga (www.jonahmatranga.com) a short while ago. Well, as part of our 'trade' he was kind enough to let me sell my stuff from his merch table at a couple of his recent UK shows.

I was sadly only able to attend London and Newcastle as the other shows were either too far away or conflicted with a certain local derby last Saturday :)

Rowan loves sewing...

...Uhh, maybe not.

After two false starts my friend Rowan and I decided to spend our Saturday afternoon sewing scarves...well, Rowan did the actual sewing. I just pinned stuff up. It was an enlightening experience and I now have a deeper sense of admiration for textile workers of all kinds....especially Rowan (Thank you!).

I'm glad to say the scarves look ace!, they'll be up on my site this week.

I've been working on this for a little while and now I'm happy with it I'm going to print it on American Apparel Tees and Scarves. It'll be going on Dijon tees in a dark brown, on Cream scarves in scarlet and on Grey scarves in dark orange.

I recently had the pleasure of coming up with a design for Jonah Matranga (far, onelinedrawing, new end original, gratitude) who I have been a huge admirer of for many years.

I've been working on those owls a little more, this time in red on a stone coloured paper. This is pretty much the colous scheme I will be using for the tees and bags. I'll get the finished peice up soon so you can get a better Idea of how it will look.

My window makes a great natural lightbox......though it is less useful when the dark Scottish winter arrives.

Myth.

Mythologies are often, as I see it, exaggerations of real life. These three monsters are most commonly associated with Hebrew stories but exist in other mythologies also. I like these exaggerations from an artistic point of view because they allow me to draw whatever I want. I can read various descriptions and follow one which I particularly like or make my work an amalgam of all those accounts.

That’s what I did with the Leviathan. She’s a sea monster, I’ve wanted to draw her for a long time. There are suggestions that in reality she may have been either a whale, sea snake or Nile Crocodile.

The Behemoth is most commonly accepted to be a hippopotamus but elephants, rhinoceros, bulls and bears have all been identified as possible sources for the stories which led to this legend.

Ziz is less well known than the other two, she is a giant hawk-esque bird and in myth is the protector of all birds. RSPB do I good job, but I think I’d prefer her looking out for me.

Stick any of their names into google and you’re sure to get a truck load of information about them and their origins. You’ll be sucked into a world of mental big things which wreck the place, then the Young Earth Creationists show up with their daft opinions and you’ll laugh until your head falls off.

I'm not proving too good at keeping this updated but I've had a heap of stuff going on in the last couple of weeks, anyway....

here's a new illustration, it's part of a set of three along with the leviathan (below) and I'll be putting the third up in a few days I hope.

I've decided I'm going to put these on clothing for the autumn, so sweaters/track tops probably. I've been scouting a new supplier too as American Apparel don't do 100% organic cotton sweaters...think i've found a good source tho.

...My very first Blog. Exciting.

In this space I'll be keeping folks updated with all my art endeavours. I'll post updates on the progress of Green Tees ( http://www.greenteesapparel.co.uk/ ) as well as anything else I have going on.

Here's where I am right now...The tees for my first run are all here, the Jackdaw design has been printed and I'll be doing the other two this weekend. I'm going to get better pics up on the site once all tees are done as those photoshopped efforts are a little small.

I'm also currently working on a set of three illustrations I'm excited about turning into my next set of designs. There's a pretty poor photograph of the first at the top of this blog. Once all three are done I'm going to do a run of screen prints and tees which will be based on the originals, but not identical copies. It'll be a while until they're all available but I'll keep you posted.
